 “Switch Blade” was recorded during the Money Jungle sessions but not included in the original LP, though you’ll find it on most CD and MP3 versions of the album.  Duke Ellington was madly prolific, true, but I’m in awe that anyone could record a great song like this and simply toss it over his shoulder, like he had a million more where that came from.


 Anyhow, for this record he was working with Charles “The Angry Man Of Jazz” Mingus, and it might have something to do with the agitated, restless feel of this record.  That’s what I like about it.  This record is the exact opposite of Easy Listening.docshoe:
